Terms of Service

The agreement between Wisot LLC and users of wisot.app and the Wisot Android app. Lays out what each side agrees to.

TL;DR

Wisot is an Android app for active learning from audio. By using it you agree: not to try to break it, not to use it on content you don't have rights to, and not to blame us if you didn't pass the exam. We agree: not to leak your data, not to charge without your consent, and to be honest about what the app can and can't do.

§01Acceptance

By signing up for the Wisot app or using the wisot.app website, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you don't agree with any of these terms, please don't use the service.

§02What Wisot is

Wisot is an Android mobile application (the "Service") that listens to audio content on your device (lectures, podcasts, audiobooks) and periodically pauses it to ask you questions and check your understanding.

Speech recognition runs locally on your device via the sherpa-onnx library. Language models that generate questions run on our servers.

The Service is distributed as an APK file via email. We are not currently on the Google Play Store.

§03Your account

Cross-device sync and paid features require sign-in with a Google account. Without signing in, you can use a limited set of features locally.

You are responsible for the security of your Google account. We don't have access to your password and can't recover it — that's Google's job.

One Google account equals one Wisot user. Sharing access with other people violates the subscription terms.

§04Subscriptions and payment

Wisot offers four access tiers. Free features remain free, forever.

1. 14-day Pro trial. On first install, you automatically get full access to all Pro features for 14 days. No card required. When the trial ends, you automatically drop to the free tier — no charges, no nags.

2. Free tier. Available forever after the trial: 3 audio hours per month, basic questions, FSRS spaced repetition for material you've already studied, progress dashboard, daily streak.

3. Paid tiers (Active, Deep Diver, Mastery). Full details on the pricing page. Billing is monthly via integrated payment providers (Google Play Billing for international users, YooKassa for Russia).

4. Cancellation. You can cancel anytime in the app settings. Your subscription remains active until the end of the paid period, then automatically drops to the free tier.

§05Refunds

Refund terms are described in a separate document — see our Refund Policy (/refund).

Short version: the 14-day trial doesn't require a card, so there's nothing to refund. After you activate a paid subscription, you can request a full refund within 14 days of the first charge, no questions asked.

§06Acceptable use

These restrictions exist to protect other users and the service infrastructure.

You may not use Wisot to:

  • Recognize or analyze audio you don't have rights to (e.g., confidential corporate meetings)
  • Automatically scrape third-party lecture courses for resale
  • Attack our infrastructure (including DDoS or vulnerability exploitation attempts)
  • Create derivative products on top of our API without written permission
  • Circumvent tier limits (e.g., sharing one subscription between multiple people)

Violations may result in account suspension without refund.

§07Intellectual property

All exclusive rights to the Wisot application, its source code, design, trademark, and the wisot.app website belong to Wisot LLC.

Audio content you play through Wisot (lectures, podcasts, audiobooks) belongs to its rightful owners. Wisot makes no claim to this content and does not store it.

Transcripts and your answers inside the service belong to you. We store them only to provide functionality and delete them on your request.

§08Limitation of liability

We provide the service "as is". Wisot is a tool for active learning, not a private tutor and not a guarantee of academic results.

We are not liable for your grades, exam results, or interview outcomes. Effectiveness depends on how you use the tool.

We are not liable for the accuracy of transcripts or generated questions in cases of poor source audio quality.

Our maximum liability to you for any period shall not exceed the amount you paid for the subscription over the previous 3 months.

§09Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be published with an updated date in the header and announced via email at least 14 days before they take effect.

If you disagree with the changes, you can unsubscribe or delete your account before the changes take effect.

§10Governing law

All disputes arising from the use of Wisot are governed by the laws of the Russian Federation.

If pre-trial settlement is not possible, disputes are heard in the Arbitration Court of Moscow.

A pre-trial claim procedure is mandatory. Response time to a formal claim is 30 calendar days.
